Cohen-Greenberg Wins Chopin Competition

On Saturday, September 16, Jesse Cohen-Greenberg, a sophomore at Guilderland High School, won the Master Level of the Chopin Competition sponsored by the Capital District Council for Young Musicians. Jesse has been a student at The Music Studio since he was 3 ½ years old; he had Music Fundamentals I with Alice Kurkjian, and went on to classes and private lessons with Mrs. Liberty. A few years ago, he began studying with composer and master teacher Joseph Fennimore. This past February, Jesse won the Senior Level of the Rachmaninoff Competition sponsored by the New Russia Cultural Center. Jesse turned 15 the day of the Chopin Competition; he is the youngest pianist to win at the Master Level.

The day after the competition, Jesse performed his winning pieces–Ballade No. 3, Op. 47 and Etude Op. 10, No. 8–again at a Winners Recital, where they were recorded. You can watch them here:
