TEACHER OF MUSIC AND PIANO: The Music Studio is currently seeking an exceptional teacher with a degree in piano or piano pedagogy. During our more than 45 years as a school, we have won recognition and numerous awards for our innovative, comprehensive, custom-designed program. Many of our students have won regional piano competitions, and performed with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, local jazz musicians, and contemporary composers. Our teachers are an integral part of the musical lives of our students, who often begin with us at age 4 or 5 and continue throughout high school.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching well-structured, high-energy music fundamentals classes for children ages 3–8, with emphasis on singing, ear training, rhythm, movement, reading, keyboard, recorder, and Orff
- Teaching piano lessons, both private and class, for students and adults of various skill levels
- Preparing students to perform at their best in periodic recitals, evaluations, and public performances, and helping the Studio administer those events
Preferred candidates will have:
- a degree in piano performance, music education, or piano pedagogy
- experience as a teacher of a range of ages
- mastery of sight-reading, fluency in music theory, and advanced piano performance skills
- a positive, can-do attitude
This is a salaried position on a ten-month basis (summer hours are available, for additional pay) with periodic increases. Full-time position begins immediately with comprehensive training in The Music Studio’s unique curriculum.
