The Music Studio

Timothy Dunne is a composer of contemporary classical music, educator, scholar, and a performing classical pianist living in the Hudson Valley. He has written works for large orchestra, chamber ensembles, voice, and solo instruments. He received his doctorate of musical arts in composition from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory of Russia in 2009 and is also a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

Professor Dunne has been involved in the creation of both international festivals and local music programs, including co-founding and co-directing the Mostar Fund (Mostar, Bosnia Herzegovina), Art Modern (Barcelona-N.Y.C.), and the ReMusik.org contemporary music organization (St. Petersburg, Russia). He is currently on the faculty of the Department of Music & Theatre at the University at Albany, where he teaches composition. He is also a frequent participant in the University’s Music and Cognition Group of researchers in the Department of Social Sciences.
