Catherine Schane-Lydon is a pianist, composer, music director, and educator from Canaan, New York. She earned a Master of Education degree from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon’s Rock College, where her academic focus included extensive coursework in piano performance and music pedagogy. In addition to maintaining a private teaching studio for decades, Ms. Schane-Lydon has performed in a classical trio, as a singer and arranger for an a cappella group, as an organist, and even in an improv group. Over the course of an extensive and varied career as active musician and educator, Ms. Schane-Lydon has held the positions of music minister, choir director, accompanist, dance accompanist, director of music ministries, festival coordinator, and, most recently, of Music Director at Bethany Reformed Church in Albany, New York. She is also the author of The Total Classical Pianist and Get That Kid Piano Lessons!: How Studying Piano Prepares Your Child for Success in Life.
